Massage Therapy

Massage therapy is one of the oldest forms of natural healing that increases circulation, releases tension and adhesions from muscle and connective tissue as well as assisting the body in the removal of toxins. Massage therapy reduces pain and inflammation, creating better range of motion in the joints, helping with stress reduction and promoting overall well-being in the body.

At Flow Massage and Wellness, we believe that every body is different and what we require can change on a daily basis. Our therapists tune into your specific needs and create a unique experience every time you come for a treatment. FAQ's

How often should I receive a massage?

We recommend a regular massage at least monthly for maintenance and overall wellness. If you have chronic issues you will want to come more often. Weekly or even twice weekly for a duration of time (depending on the severity of the issue) will help to create lasting change in the body.

Should massage therapy hurt?

You massage should never be painful.  Massage can sometimes be uncomfortable when working through chronic issues or injuries, but it should never be so intense you cannot relax through it.  If your therapist is working beyond your pain tolerance, they are creating more tension, instead of a release.  Make sure to communicate your pain level to your therapist if you feel that you are in pain or feel yourself pulling away from the treatment.

What is a myofascial release massage?

Myofascial release is a therapeutic massage technique working with the connective tissue that holds our muscles and bones together.  It is often times the main culprit in limited range of motion and joint pain.  Myofascial release massage focuses on one area of the body that is injured or limited.  The therapist uses long very slow strokes creating an unwinding in the connective tissue allowing the muscles to relax.

What is massage cupping?

Massage cupping is an ancient technique using negative pressure (suction) to create intense circulation as well and myofascial release in the muscle and connective tissue. The therapist places the cups on areas of intense tension to stretch and release deeper areas that we cannot access with the hands.
